Monument for Tolerance

No matter what colour, nor the way you look at the world we are all connected and have to live together with respect and dignity

Building a monument on commission for social impact

On November 16, 2022, the Monument for Tolerance was unveiled by the Mayor of Laren nh. November 16th was deliberately chosen because of the United Nations International Day of Tolerance. In 2021, the commission was granted by the Foundation that donated the sculpture to the Municipality of Laren. The assignment was to create a monument of tolerance with my trademark 'HappyGerrit'. The three figures each have a different color, are arranged differently and are interconnected via anchors in the cast pedestal. 'Regardless of color or how you look at the world, we are all connected and must live together with respect on our planet'

It is a lasting theme and annually there are various activities and attention is paid to this specific theme and throughout the year. At various institutions, schools and companies there is a small replica of the Monument of Tolerance with the aim of continuing to draw attention to the theme.

A replica and miniatures are exclusively for sale in the shop of the Singer Museum.

Every year a 'Monumentje' is awarded to someone who has made a special contribution to the theme.
